That’s right — Revision Path is now on Patreon!ย I’ve been checking out the platform for a while, and since Tugboat Yards is shutting down, this is a perfect opportunity to migrate operations over there. I’ve already gotten a lot of questions about this switch, so here are some answers to those questions.
In 1991, AIGA organized a working conference titled “Why is Graphic Design 93% White? Removing Barriers to Increase Opportunities in Graphic Design”. And over 25 years later, we’re still trying to come up with the answer.
Diversity is a hot topic in the design community. Conferences promise to do better every year after unveiling all-White speaker panels. Design-driven companies in Silicon Valley like Twitter report only two percent of their US-based employees are Black. And between magazines, podcasts, and other media, the field of design can look like a monoculture.
How do we fix this? Can we fix this? And what is the overall benefit of diversifying the design industry? I explored these questions and more in the presentation below. This presentation was originally given at SXSW Interactive on March 14, 2015.
The 10th Annual Podcast Awards are now here! The 10th Annual Podcast Awards Ceremony will be held at New Media Expo in Las Vegas on Tuesday April 14, 2015.
If you’ve gotten any value from the Revision Path podcast, then I would love your nomination for the Podcast Awards in the Technology category!
Happy new year!ย This is Maurice Cherry, the founder/host/editor-in-chief/next Supremeย around here.
For the last two months in 2014, I did a survey to get a better idea of who the Revision Path audience is, how you like the site and the podcast, and a few other topics.
This was a big survey broken into four parts: demographics, the podcast, the blog, and donations and fund-raising.
Let’s examine the findings, shall we?
Finding the right balance in the midst of chaos is often tough. Truth is, we all have similar fears. Often we hide ourselves in working more or sulking further into a hermit mindset.
Fortunately, it doesn’t always have to be this way. Making the choice to be happy isn’t something you do once. With a little consistency and lots of determination the journey becomes easier. Explore, a new book by designer David Yarde, is about mastering fear and using it to live life fully while also developing our skills to help others.
